About Rick Jarrett
Rick Jarrett is a singer and entertainer. His voice has been compared to a combination of many singers including Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau, Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley. He has performed in many shows and productions including some for Disney, the second generation Platters, and performed at the Mark Taper Forum with Grammy and Tony award winners.
From Music Scholarship to Vietnam
Rick’s music career had a long hiatus. He was a ‘star’ in his high school musicals and earned a music scholarship to college based solely on his voice, as he did not play an instrument at the time nor read music. Instead of continuing his vocal training in college, Rick ended up in Vietnam fighting for his country and his life. After serving in the army, spending 15 years as an accountant, and raising three children, he decided to return to his first love, music and entertaining.
Even though Rick got a ‘late start’ he has become an accomplished performer. He sang with Grammy Award winner Patti Austin and Tony Award winner Lilias White in Like Jazz at The Mark Taper Forum; it was a Cy Coleman, Alan & Marilyn Bergman production.
He performed in Disney’s opening of Mulan at the Hollywood Bowl and also at the opening of the Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Superdome in New Orleans. He sang for years with Don Randi’s band at the world renowned Baked Potato in Studio City. He also toured the country with the famous Platters (2nd generation) R&B singing group.
He appeared as an actor on Days of Our Lives for over three years. His theatrical performances include King Theseus in a regional production of A Midsummer Nights Dream and the Cowardly Lion in a San Francisco Bay Area Production of The Wizard of Oz.
